FAQ

Questions engineers ask first

Not covered here? Send your drawing — an engineer replies within 2 business hours.

How does TRA differ from TRA-RF and RXP / RXP-D polyurethane reeling cables?
TRA is a signal-green (RAL 6032) halogen-free PP/double-PUR cable with polyaramid reinforcement designed for horizontal and vertical crane reels up to 200 m/min and 30 N/mm² across 10 control (7 G 2.5–54 G 2.5) and power (5 G 10–25) sizes. TRA-RF is the dedicated yellow vertical spreader reeling variant (24 G 2.5 & 42 G 2.5, +80 °C ambient), while RXP / RXP-D uses 12YH polyester insulation for −40 °C cold flexing and roller routing.
Why does the legacy PDF list 7.98 Ω/km DC resistance for 5 G 10, 5 G 16, and 5 G 25?
In the source catalog table (p. 47), the 2.5 mm² conductor resistance value (7.98 Ω/km) was inadvertently copied into the 5 G 10, 5 G 16, and 5 G 25 power cable sub-table, even though the voltage-drop row directly above it (3.36, 2.15, and 1.42 V/(A·km)) reflects the true cross-sections. Per IEC 60228 Table 3, the maximum DC resistances at 20 °C are 1.91 Ω/km (10 mm²), 1.21 Ω/km (16 mm²), and 0.780 Ω/km (25 mm²).
Can TRA cables be routed over deflection pulleys?
TRA is optimized for direct spooling (minimum 6 × D on the reel spool, 4 × D on the dead-turn anti-tension drum, and 9 × D on the reel guiding device). Because its high-modulus polypropylene (PP) core insulation is stiffer than TPE-E or EPR, deflection pulleys are not recommended without prior engineering review; for multi-roller S-curve paths, select RXP / RXP-D or RXG / RXG-D.
What is the permitted dynamic tensile load of TRA cables?
Every size in the TRA order table is rated at 30 N/mm² of total copper cross-section—from 525 N on 7 G 2.5 (17.5 mm²) up to 4,050 N on 54 G 2.5 (135 mm²) and 3,750 N on 5 G 25 (125 mm²)—supported by a central extruded elastomer/polyaramid cord on 5 G power cables and a reinforced polyaramid filler on multi-core control cables.
