FAQ

Questions engineers ask first

Not covered here? Send your drawing — an engineer replies within 2 business hours.

Why does the datasheet mention both '5x3x2.5 mm² + CAN-BUS' and '37x2.5 + 1x CAN-BUS'?
Both refer to the same two-layer core geometry: the inner layer stranded around the rubber-sheathed aramid support element contains five 3-core bundles (5 × 3 × 2.5 mm² = 15 power cores) plus the 1 × (2 × 0.24 mm²) CAN-BUS pair, while the outer layer contains 22 × 2.5 mm² power cores. Together they provide 15 + 22 = 37 × 2.5 mm² power/control cores plus 1 × CAN-BUS pair.
Is the integrated CAN-BUS pair electrically screened?
Yes. While the 37 × 2.5 mm² ETFE power/control cores are unscreened, the integrated 1 × (2 × 0.24 mm²) CAN-BUS twisted pair (foam-skin polypropylene insulation) is individually screened with an aluminium-laminated foil plus a tinned copper wire braid under its own protective polyamide sub-jacket, ensuring clean spreader telemetry alongside switching power cores.
How does XTRM (N)SHT11Y achieve a 90 m vertical suspension height at only 28.7 mm diameter?
Using thin-wall ETFE fluoropolymer insulation on the 37 × 2.5 mm² Class FS conductors trims the outer diameter to 28.7 ± 1.0 mm (≈ 30 mm) and net weight to 1,575 kg/km (1.58 kg/m). At the centre, a rubber-cushioned aramid strength member provides a 4,500 N dynamic tensile rating and > 20 kN breaking load, supporting a 90 m vertical drop (130 m total cable length) with a > 4.4× breaking safety margin.
What is the permitted ambient temperature range in moving and fixed operation?
Permitted outer cable ambient temperature is −35 °C to +80 °C in moving reeling service and −50 °C to +80 °C in fixed installation, while the ETFE-insulated conductors are rated for +90 °C continuous operating temperature and +250 °C under short-circuit conditions.
