FAQ

Questions engineers ask first

Not covered here? Send your drawing — an engineer replies within 2 business hours.

How are the 24 optical fibers identified inside FESTOON PUR FO 2×12/125?
The 24 fibers are divided into two 12-fiber buffer tubes, with individual fibers inside each tube colour-coded 1 to 12 in accordance with ANSI/TIA/EIA-598-A (blue, orange, green, brown, slate, white, red, black, yellow, violet, rose, aqua).
Should I specify E9/125 single-mode or G50/125 multimode for a container crane festoon?
Specify E9/125 (ITU-T G.652.D / OS2 single-mode) for long-travel STS or RMG cranes, 10G/40G Ethernet rings and camera/LiDAR backbones. Specify G50/125 or G62.5/125 multimode when interfacing directly with existing legacy 850/1300 nm multimode PLC optical transceivers.
Is FESTOON PUR FO 2×12/125 completely metal-free?
Yes. Both the central strain-relief elements and the outer high-tenacity multifilament braid are dielectric synthetic yarns, making the cable 100 % metal-free and immune to ground loops or induced voltages when bundled next to MV or VFD power cables.
How does FESTOON PUR FO 2×12/125 differ from CRANE FO 2×12/125 Rubber?
FESTOON PUR FO 2×12/125 uses a lighter, thinner halogen-free PUR jacket (13–15 mm OD, 180 kg/km, 150 mm min. bend radius) optimized for high-speed festoon trolleys up to 240 m/min. CRANE FO 2×12/125 Rubber uses a thicker 5GM5 rubber jacket (14–16 mm OD, 210 kg/km, 2,000 N dynamic pull) built for motorized and spring-driven cable reels.
