Trailing & towing
Primary trailing cable for portable face drills, rock bolters, dewatering pumps, auxiliary fans and mobile Welding/gate-end panels.
Product
South African SANS 1520-1 Type 41 flexible trailing and reeling cable (640/1,100 V, 2.5–25 mm²) with three tinned-copper/nylon braid-screened EPR power cores, one unscreened pilot core and a braid-reinforced twin CR sheath.
Typical values for this cable type, based on SANS 1520-1 · SANS 1411-1 & -3 — confirmed in the datasheet and quotation for your order.
Application fit
Built for South African and Southern African underground coal, gold, platinum and hard-rock mines where small-to-medium 525 V or 1,000 V portable apparatus (2.5 to 25 mm²) requires individual core earth-fault screening, pilot earth-continuity interlocking and drum-reeling capability.
Primary trailing cable for portable face drills, rock bolters, dewatering pumps, auxiliary fans and mobile Welding/gate-end panels.
Rated for reeling and non-reeling duty with published 1-layer, 2-layer and 3-layer drum current ratings.
Open 16-string nylon reinforcement braid between inner and outer CR sheaths resists torsion and tensile pull up to 1.1 kN.
EPR core insulation and twin polychloroprene (CR) sheaths withstand wet underground headings and oil-contaminated sumps.
Flexible unarmoured trailing construction — do not suspend in deep vertical mine shafts without support.
Use BS 6708 Type 20/21 ArmouredConstruction
Three Class 5 tinned copper power cores insulated with EPR and individually screened with a composite tinned-copper/nylon braid are laid up with one unscreened EPR-insulated pilot core around a central rubber filler, enclosed by an inner CR sheath, a 16-string open nylon reinforcement braid and a black CR outer sheath.

3 screened power cores + 1 unscreened pilot core with twin CR polychloroprene sheaths for small-section trailing & reeling
For larger 640/1,100 V continuous miners and shuttle cars above 25 mm², specify SANS Type 61A (TPU) or Type 61B (CR)
