FAQ

Questions engineers ask first

Not covered here? Send your drawing — an engineer replies within 2 business hours.

How does FLRYW achieve +125 °C (Class C) whereas standard FLRY is limited to +105 °C (Class B)?
Standard FLRY uses monomeric phthalate-free plasticisers that gradually volatilise above 105 °C, causing the PVC to harden and crack. FLRYW ('YW' = Wärmebeständiges PVC) uses high-molecular-weight trimellitate (TOTM) and polymeric polyester plasticisers with specialized thermal stabilisers that remain flexible after 3000 hours at +125 °C.
When should FLRYW be chosen versus cross-linked FLR2X?
Both FLRYW and FLR2X are rated for ISO 6722-1 Class C (-40 °C to +125 °C). FLRYW is slightly softer, strips with zero blade wear on standard PVC tooling and is lower cost; FLR2X (cross-linked polyethylene) is halogen-free and resists thermoplastic melt-through under extreme short-circuit overloads.
What is the difference between FLRYW and FLRYWd?
FLRYW uses the standard 'R' reduced wall thickness (e.g., 1.30 mm max OD on 0.35 mm² and 1.60 mm max OD on 0.50 mm²). FLRYWd uses an extra-thin wall ('d' = dünnwandig) with 0.16 mm minimum wall to shrink the outer diameter even further for dense connectors.
Is FLRYW low-fogging for vehicle interior and headlamp applications?
Yes. Because FLRYW uses high-molecular-weight trimellitate/polymeric plasticisers with extremely low vapour pressure, it exhibits minimal volatile organic condensation (fogging) inside sealed LED/halogen headlamp assemblies and cockpit ducts.
