How does S07HXHX relate to the harmonised European designation H07ZZ-F?
S07HXHX (S07HXHX-F) is built on the EN 50525-3-21 (H07ZZ-F) architecture using EI8 cross-linked halogen-free elastomer insulation and an EM8 cross-linked halogen-free elastomer sheath, extended to cover multi-core control configurations and IEC 60332-3-24 bunched flame retardancy.
Why is cross-linked elastomer (HX) superior to thermoplastic LSZH on flexible cables?
Thermoplastic LSZH compounds are stiff, prone to cold cracking and soften above 70 °C. Cross-linked EI8/EM8 elastomer compounds (HX) behave like true vulcanised rubber—staying supple down to -40 °C, operating continuously at +90 °C, and withstanding +250 °C short-circuits without melting.
Can S07HXHX be used outdoors and in wet environments?
Yes. The heavy-duty EM8 cross-linked elastomer outer sheath is ozone-resistant (EN 60811-403), UV-stabilised, oil-resistant and suitable for damp industrial locations and outdoor temporary power distribution.
When should screened S07HXCHX-F be selected instead of S07HXHX?
Select S07HXCHX-F when feeding variable-frequency drive (VFD) motors, servo actuators or analogue/digital control lines where a ≥85 % tinned copper braid screen is required to suppress electromagnetic interference.
