What is the difference between SJTOOW and SJTOW?
Both are 300 V Junior Service thermoplastic PVC outdoor ('W') cords. In SJTOW (single 'O'), only the outer jacket is oil-resistant. In SJTOOW (double 'OO'), both the outer jacket AND the individual conductor insulations are oil-resistant, preventing insulation degradation when oil wicks into terminal boxes or plugs.
How does 300 V SJTOOW differ from 600 V STOOW?
The letter 'J' stands for Junior Service (300 V rating, thinner 30-mil insulation and 60–80 mil jacket wall, restricted to 18–10 AWG). Removing the 'J' gives STOOW (600 V Hard Usage service, thicker 30–60 mil insulation and 60–110 mil jacket, extending up to 2 AWG).
When should SJEOOW (TPE) be selected instead of SJTOOW (PVC)?
SJTOOW uses thermoplastic PVC rated down to -40 °C. If the cord is used in arctic sub-zero environments down to -50 °C or requires superior rubber-like limpness and flex memory, choose TPE-based SJEOOW.
Is SJTOOW approved for outdoor wet locations?
Yes. The 'W' suffix certifies that SJTOOW has passed UL 62 sunlight UV weathering and wet-location immersion dielectric tests.
