FAQ

Questions engineers ask first

Not covered here? Send your drawing — an engineer replies within 2 business hours.

What makes ETFE (7Y) different from PTFE (5Y) and FEP (6Y)?
While PTFE (5Y) and FEP (6Y) are perfluoropolymers prized for +180 to +260 °C heat resistance, they are relatively soft. ETFE (7Y) is an alternating copolymer of ethylene and tetrafluoroethylene with much higher tensile strength, stiffness and cut-through/scrape resistance, tailored specifically for ISO 6722-1 Class D (-65 to +150 °C).
Why are ABS wheel-speed and brake-wear sensor cables built with FLR7Y cores?
Brake calipers radiate +140 to +150 °C heat during heavy braking while wheel-arch cables endure continuous suspension flexing in -40 °C slush and gravel; FLR7Y cores withstand both the thermal peak and mechanical fatigue inside PUR-sheathed sensor cables.
Does FLR7Y require plated copper conductors or can it use bare copper?
At ISO 6722-1 Class D (+150 °C), both bare copper (Cu-ETP1) and tinned copper (Cu/Sn) are qualified; tinned copper is often chosen for fuel-tank immersion or severe humidity.
How does FLR7Y compare with cross-linked polyethylene FLR2X?
FLR2X is rated for Class C (-40 to +125 °C), whereas FLR7Y upgrades the harness to Class D (-65 to +150 °C) with superior chemical immunity to fuels and brake fluids.
