FAQ

Questions engineers ask first

Not covered here? Send your drawing — an engineer replies within 2 business hours.

How much farther can RG-11 transmit video or broadband signals compared to RG-59 and RG-6?
Because RG-11 uses a 14 AWG (1.63 mm) conductor and a 7.11 mm foam dielectric, its attenuation at 1 GHz is only ~14.1 dB/100 m—roughly half that of RG-59 (~30 dB/100 m) and ~35 % lower than RG-6 (~21 dB/100 m), extending 3G-SDI reach beyond 160 m and analog/HD-CCTV beyond 500 m.
When should solid bare copper RG-11 be specified over CCS RG-11?
Specify 100 % solid bare copper RG-11 for broadcast SDI video, baseband CCTV, and satellite LNB links where 13/18 V DC power or low-frequency sync travels over the center conductor; CCS RG-11 is suitable for RF-only CATV above 50 MHz where skin effect dominates.
Can RG-11 be buried directly underground without conduit?
Yes, our RG-11 Flooded Direct-Burial variant injects water-blocking polybutene gel into the braid and extrudes a rugged high-density polyethylene (HDPE) jacket to prevent moisture migration in underground trenches. Each production reel undergoes sweep-frequency impedance and return-loss verification, dielectric spark testing, and dimensional inspection before dispatch with an EN 10204 3.1 test certificate.
Do standard RG-6 or RG-59 BNC connectors fit RG-11?
No, RG-11 has a 10.30 mm (0.405 in) outer diameter and 1.63 mm center pin, requiring dedicated RG-11 75 Ω compression or crimp BNC and F-type connectors (often with an integrated pin-reducer). Each production reel undergoes sweep-frequency impedance and return-loss verification, dielectric spark testing, and dimensional inspection before dispatch with an EN 10204 3.1 test certificate.
