Fixed installation
Designed for fixed cable trays, ladders, conduits and indoor/outdoor process racks.
Product
Low-capacitance 300/500 V process instrumentation cable built to BS EN 50288-7 with IEC 60228 Class 2 copper conductors, polyethylene (2Y) core insulation, collective or PiMF Al/PET screen with tinned copper drain wire and flame-retardant PVC sheath.
Typical values for this cable type, based on BS EN 50288-7 (300/500 V) — confirmed in the datasheet and quotation for your order.
Application fit
Engineered for fixed 4–20 mA current loops, HART digital overlays, DCS/PLC marshalling cabinets and intrinsically safe (Ex-i) process transmitters in refineries, chemical plants and power stations.
Designed for fixed cable trays, ladders, conduits and indoor/outdoor process racks.
UV-stabilised black PVC sheath withstands sheltered and open-air industrial pipe racks.
Unarmoured PVC sheath requires ducting underground; specify RE-2Y(st)Y SWAY for direct burial.
Use RE-2Y(st)Y SWAYClass 2 7-wire stranding and PE insulation are for static process routing, not drag chains.

| # | Layer | Material & reference |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Stranded copper conductors | Annealed bare or tinned copper, 7-wire stranded (IEC 60228 Class 2)Low DC loop resistance for long 4–20 mA transmitter runs |
| 2 | Low-capacitance polyethylene insulation | Solid polyethylene (PE / 2Y per EN 50290-2-23)Dielectric constant εr ≈ 2.3 keeps mutual capacitance ≤ 100–115 nF/km |
| 3 | Individual pair screen (PiMF option) | Aluminium/PET laminated tape (≥ 20 % overlap) + 0.5 mm² tinned copper drain wire per pairEliminates pair-to-pair crosstalk on multi-pair home-run trunks |
| 4 | Polyester binder tape | Helical PET separating wrap over laid-up pairs or triadsMaintains circular pair bundle geometry |
| 5 | Collective electrostatic screen (st) | Aluminium/PET laminated tape with ≥ 0.5 mm² (7-wire) tinned copper drain wire100 % electrostatic shielding against plant VFD and switchgear noise |
| 6 | Flame-retardant PVC outer sheath | Extruded PVC (Y / TM1 per EN 50290-2-22) with nylon ripcord, Black RAL 9005 or Blue RAL 5015 (Ex-i)IEC 60332-1-2 & IEC 60332-3-24 Cat C flame retardant |
Twisted pairs or triads with overall Al/PET tape screen and drain wire (Black or Ex-i Blue)
Each pair individually foil-screened with drain wire plus collective Al/PET screen
Intrinsically safe execution with RAL 5015 sky-blue sheath for Zone 0/1/2 Ex-i circuits
