FAQ

Questions engineers ask first

Not covered here? Send your drawing — an engineer replies within 2 business hours.

When should I choose this unscreened PVC drag-chain control cable over a PUR-sheathed drag-chain cable?
Choose this PVC drag-chain cable for dry or moderately oily indoor automation lines, packaging equipment, and pick-and-place gantries operating between −5 °C and +70 °C at bending radii ≥ 7.5 × OD. If your carrier is exposed to aggressive ester cutting fluids, outdoor UV, sub-zero temperatures down to −40 °C, or severe mechanical abrasion, specify our TPE/PUR or PVC/PUR drag-chain series instead.
Why are IEC 60228 Class 6 conductors mandatory for continuous drag-chain operation?
Standard flexible installation cables use Class 5 stranding (0.20 mm wires for 0.75 mm²), which work-hardens and fractures rapidly under tight repetitive carrier bending. Class 6 superfine stranding uses 0.15 mm copper filaments laid with short pitch lengths around a central filler, reducing bending stress in the outer wire fibres and achieving 5 to 8 million flex cycles.
What is the function of the non-woven fleece wrap under the outer PVC sheath?
When a cable flexes around the curved radius of an energy chain, the outer zone stretches while the inner zone compresses. The non-woven sliding fleece decouples the laid-up core bundle from the extruded outer PVC sheath, allowing the insulated cores to shift axially without sticking to the jacket or deforming into a corkscrew.
How much clearance should be left around the cable inside energy-chain compartments?
Always allow at least 10 % radial clearance (minimum 1 mm) around the nominal outer diameter of PVC drag-chain cables, and never stack unseparated cables of vastly different diameters in the same vertical slot. Secure both ends with strain-relief clamps outside the moving bend zone.
