Why are individual pair screens in TTYCY-S wrapped with a polyester isolation tape?
In multi-pair marine instrumentation trunks, each sensor or NMEA transceiver loop often has its own galvanic ground reference. Wrapping a numbered polyester isolation tape over every individual foil/copper pair screen prevents adjacent pair shields from touching inside the cable, allowing independent single-point grounding at each instrument.
How does TTYCY-S differ from TTYCY and TTYCYS?
TTYCY has no internal electrostatic tape screen (only the outer wire-braid armour 'C'). TTYCYS ('S' without hyphen) places one collective tape screen around the entire bundle of pairs. TTYCY-S ('-S' with hyphen) places an individual tape screen and drain wire around every single twisted pair.
Can I mix analog 4–20 mA / Pt100 RTD signals and digital RS-422/RS-485 signals inside one TTYCY-S cable?
Yes. Because each twisted pair is enclosed in its own 100 % metallic tape screen providing ≥ 70 dB crosstalk isolation, high-slew-rate digital serial pairs (such as NMEA 0183 or Modbus) will not induce noise into sensitive millivolt RTD or 4–20 mA pairs sharing the same TTYCY-S multi-pair cable.
Is a polyethylene-insulated equivalent (TTPY-S / TTPYCY-S) also available?
Yes. When lower mutual capacitance (≤ 60 pF/m) is required alongside individual pair screening for long digital runs, we supply the PE-insulated TTPY-S, TTPYC-S, and TTPYCY-S series to JIS C 3410. Each production reel undergoes 100 % characteristic impedance verification, mutual capacitance and DC loop resistance testing, and dielectric spark/withstand inspection before dispatch with an EN 10204 3.1 certificate.
