FAQ

Questions engineers ask first

Not covered here? Send your drawing — an engineer replies within 2 business hours.

What is the difference between M22759/32 and M22759/33 aerospace wire?
Both use a single-wall radiation-crosslinked modified ETFE (XL-ETFE) insulation rated at 600 V RMS. M22759/32 (30 to 12 AWG) uses tin-coated annealed copper conductors rated for −65 °C to +150 °C. M22759/33 (30 to 20 AWG) uses silver-coated high-strength copper alloy conductors rated for −65 °C to +200 °C and higher tensile breaking strength on small-gauge signal harnesses.
Why is crosslinked modified ETFE (XL-ETFE) preferred over uncrosslinked ETFE in avionics harnesses?
Electron-beam crosslinking transforms thermoplastic ETFE into a thermoset-like fluoropolymer that will not melt or flow under soldering iron contact or short-circuit overload (+300 °C), while dramatically improving cut-through, scrape-abrasion and Skydrol fluid resistance at a 0.15 mm thin wall.
How do M22759/32 and /33 differ from dual-wall M22759/34 and /35?
M22759/32 and /33 are single-wall (0.006 in / 0.15 mm nominal wall on 30–16 AWG) lightweight XL-ETFE wires for protected airframe and rack wiring, whereas M22759/34 and /35 are thicker dual-wall XL-ETFE constructions for open airframe runs.
Are custom MIL-STD-681 stripe combinations and laser-markable white insulations available?
Yes. Both M22759/32 and M22759/33 can be supplied in solid MIL-STD-681 colour codes (including UV-laser-markable white -9) or helical identification stripes.
