Why choose ETHERLINE ROBUST FR over standard PVC or PUR Industrial Ethernet cables in food & beverage plants?
Standard PVC hardens and cracks when exposed to vegetable/animal oils and caustic washdown foams, while standard PUR can degrade under concentrated nitric/lactic acids and hot hypochlorite sanitizers. The ROBUST FR thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) jacket is ECOLAB-tested against aggressive acid/alkaline disinfectants and bio-oils.
What does the 'FR' suffix signify in ETHERLINE ROBUST FR?
The 'FR' version uses a halogen-free, flame-retardant TPE compound that passes IEC 60332-1-2 vertical flame propagation testing while retaining full chemical, UV, and washdown resistance.
Is ETHERLINE ROBUST FR compatible with FastConnect (FC) RJ45 and M12 connectors?
Yes. The 1×4×AWG22/7 and 1×4×AWG22/1 PROFINET Cat.5e versions have a 6.5 mm outer diameter and inner sheath geometry matched to standard M12 D-coded and RJ45 field-terminable industrial plugs.
Can ETHERLINE ROBUST FR be installed outdoors without conduit?
Yes. The black RAL 9005 TPE sheath is UV-stabilized per ISO 4892-2, ozone-resistant, and rated down to -40 °C fixed (-50 °C for non-FR variants).
