Application fit

Is BCB029 right for your machine?

Deploy BCB029 for long-distance fuselage antenna feeders, Ka/Ku-band satcom transceivers, radar altimeters, and airborne ECM pods where insertion loss must stay minimal.

Fixed installation

Suitable

Larger Ø 1.42 mm silver-plated copper center conductor cuts 1–18 GHz attenuation by ~33 % compared with BCB012 over long fuselage runs.

Switchgear & control cabinet wiring

Suitable

Flexible 5.20 mm outer diameter and 26 mm static bend radius allow clean routing through airframe stringers and pressure bulkheads.

VFD inverter to AC motor screened feeder

Suitable

Composite silver-plated copper flat strip + high-density round wire braid provides ≥ 95 dB EMI isolation next to 400 Hz aircraft feeders.

Motorised monospiral reel

Not suitable

FAQ

Questions engineers ask first

Not covered here? Send your drawing — an engineer replies within 2 business hours.

How much RF insertion loss does BCB029 save compared to BCB012?
Thanks to its larger Ø 1.42 mm silver-plated copper center conductor and Ø 3.95 mm expanded PTFE dielectric, BCB029 reduces attenuation to ~14.2 dB/100m at 1 GHz and ~64.5 dB/100m at 18 GHz—roughly 33 % lower loss than BCB012.
What connectors are compatible with BCB029?
BCB029 terminates with standard aerospace SMA, TNC, Type N, BNC, and ARINC 600 size 8/12 RF contacts designed for 5.2 mm ePTFE double-screened cables.
Why is a flat silver-plated copper ribbon used under the round wire braid?
A helically wrapped flat copper-silver strip acts as a flexible solid tube with 100 % optical coverage, preventing high-frequency energy leakage above 6 GHz where conventional woven wire braids suffer aperture loss.
Does BCB029 withstand aircraft hydraulic fluids and laser wire marking?
Yes. Both FEP and ETFE jacket options resist Skydrol, Jet-A1, and de-icing fluids per EN 3475 and accept UV laser identification marking without degrading dielectric strength.
