FAQ

Questions engineers ask first

Not covered here? Send your drawing — an engineer replies within 2 business hours.

What is the difference between UL AWM 1007 and UL AWM 1569?
Both UL 1007 and UL 1569 specify a 300 V RMS PVC hook-up wire with a 0.41 mm (16 mil / 1/64 inch) nominal insulation wall over 30–16 AWG conductors. UL 1007 is rated +80 °C, whereas UL 1569 is rated +105 °C. By formulating with a +105 °C PVC compound, our wire is dual-marked UL 1007 / 1569 and CSA TR-64.
When should I choose UL 1007 / 1569 instead of UL 1015?
Use UL 1007 / 1569 for 300 V low-voltage electronics, power supplies and compact appliances where a 1.60 mm OD (at 22 AWG) saves space. Use UL 1015 (600 V, 0.79 mm / 30 mil wall, 2.40 mm OD at 22 AWG) when 600 V rating or UL 1063 MTW machine-tool certification is required.
What if my hand-soldering assembly melts standard PVC insulation?
For dense PCB hand-soldering or wave-soldering where iron contact causes PVC shrinkback, upgrade to UL AWM 1429 / 1430 electron-beam cross-linked PVC (XLPVC) or UL 3265 / 3266 cross-linked polyolefin (XLPE).
Is UL 1007 / 1569 available in striped colour combinations?
Yes. In addition to 10 solid EIA colours, spiral or longitudinal tracer stripes are available to order.
