Application fit

Is Torsion-Resistant Robot Power Cable right for your machine?

Engineered for 6-axis robot drive motors, high-frequency milling spindles, and 400–690 V servo spot-welding guns subjected to simultaneous 3D torsion and bending.

Energy chain / drag chain

Suitable

Withstands both ±180°/m 3D robot wrist torsion and 7th-axis linear gantry energy-chain travel.

VFD inverter to AC motor screened feeder

Suitable

Low-capacitance TPE-E/PP insulation and ≥ 85 % helical tinned copper D-shield suppress PWM inverter noise.

Fixed installation

Suitable

UL 1000 V AWM Style 21223 allows continuous routing from weld controller or VFD cabinet up the robot base.

Motorised monospiral reel

Not suitable

Designed for multi-axis robot torsion rather than high-tension monospiral outdoor crane drums.

FAQ

Questions engineers ask first

Not covered here? Send your drawing — an engineer replies within 2 business hours.

How does Torsion-Resistant Robot Power Cable differ from a standard Shielded Servo Motor Power Cable?
A standard Shielded Servo Motor Power Cable uses a cross-woven tinned copper braid (≥ 85 %) designed for planar 2D linear drag chains (±30°/m max twist). On a 6-axis robot arm where the cable twists ±180°/m to ±360°/m millions of times, a cross-braid shears apart. Torsion-Resistant Robot Power Cable uses reverse-bundled Class 6+ copper strands, a central star-spline filler, PTFE sliding tapes, and a helically wound spiral copper D-shield.
Which sizes are used for robotic spot-welding guns and high-frequency milling spindles?
Medium-frequency (1000 Hz MFDC) servo spot-welding guns and heavy robotic milling spindles typically use 4G10, 4G16, 4G25, or 4G35 (or 3×10+3G1.5 symmetric earth) routed through the external dress pack from the weld timer / VFD cabinet to the Axis-6 tool changer.
Why are dual PTFE fluoropolymer sliding wraps placed below and above the copper D-shield?
During rapid multi-axis robot wrist articulation, the insulated phase cores, the helical copper shield, and the outer PUR sheath each experience different radial and axial strains. The counter-wound PTFE tapes provide an ultra-low-friction boundary (μ < 0.1) so the spiral copper shield glides smoothly without fretting or abrading the insulation.
Can this cable be ordered in DESINA orange (RAL 2003) as well as matte black (RAL 9005)?
Yes. Matte black (RAL 9005) is the standard for external automotive welding dress packs to hide soot and spatter, while DESINA orange (RAL 2003) is available for internal axis motor harnesses and machine-tending robots.
