Construction

Layer by layer

A solid (Class 1 -U) or finely stranded (Class 5 -K / -H or UL stranded) tinned or bare copper conductor is insulated with cross-linked EI2 silicone rubber (300/300 V on H03S-K, 300/500 V on H05S, 600 Vac on UL 3512, 1,000 Vac on UL 3644). On H05SJ-U and H05SJ-K, an outer treated glass-fibre braid adds mechanical abrasion resistance.

FAQ

Questions engineers ask first

Not covered here? Send your drawing — an engineer replies within 2 business hours.

How do the EN 50525-2-41 codes H03S-K, H05S-U, H05S-K and H05SJ-K differ?
'H' denotes a CENELEC harmonized standard wire; '03' is 300/300 V and '05' is 300/500 V; 'S' designates cross-linked silicone rubber (compound EI2); 'J' indicates an outer glass-fibre braid; '-U' is a Class 1 solid copper conductor and '-K' is a Class 5 flexible stranded conductor.
When should I specify UL 3512 or UL 3644 instead of H05S-K?
Specify UL AWM Style 3512 (600 Vac, 200 °C) or UL AWM Style 3644 (1,000 Vac, 200 °C) when the equipment requires North American UL 758 recognition or operates at 600 V / 1,000 V above the 300/500 V harmonized limit.
Are EN 50525-2-41 silicone wires halogen-free?
Yes. Cross-linked EI2 silicone elastomer contains zero halogens and passes IEC 60754-1 and IEC 60754-2 combustion gas acidity and conductivity tests.
Should I choose tinned copper or bare copper conductors?
Tinned copper is standard and recommended for high-temperature silicone wires because the tin barrier prevents copper oxidation above 120 °C and preserves easy solderability and low crimp contact resistance.
