FAQ

Questions engineers ask first

When should I use a Round Elevator Travelling Cable instead of a flat PVC elevator travelling cable (H05VVH6-F)?
Flat PVC travelling cables (H05VVH6-F) are designed for indoor passenger lifts up to 45–65 m suspension height, where their wide ribbon profile catches wind if used outdoors. Round Elevator Travelling Cable integrates a central galvanised steel wire rope (4.5–9.0 kN breaking load) and a weather-proof polychloroprene/elastomer jacket, making it essential for high-rise shafts up to 300 m, outdoor rack-and-pinion construction hoists, tower cranes, and windy industrial shafts.
How is a multi-layer round travelling cable prevented from twisting and corkscrewing in a 200 m hoistway?
If all cores were laid in the same helical direction, the cable's own suspended weight would cause it to untwist and spin the bottom U-loop into the shaft guide rails. We strand the insulated cores in alternating counter-directional (S and Z) concentric layers separated by sliding fleece and stabilised by an inner textile braid so the net torsional moment under load is zero.
How should the central steel wire rope be terminated at the top midpoint anchor and beneath the elevator car?
Before installation, hang the cable freely for 24 hours to relax drum coiling memory. Strip back the outer jacket at both suspension points, pass the cable body through a cushioned rubber wedge clamp, and secure the exposed central galvanised steel wire rope with wire-rope thimbles and Crosby clips so the copper conductors hang completely slack inside the junction box.
Can Round Elevator Travelling Cable include screened data pairs for CANopen-Lift or IP cameras?
Yes. Our hybrid execution — such as 24G1.5 + 3×(2×0.5)C — incorporates individually copper-screened twisted pairs in the outer layer for RS-485, CANopen-Lift, intercom audio, and cabin CCTV video transmission.
