Application fit

Is MGM 112 Type 201 / 211 right for your machine?

MGM 112 Type 201 and Type 211 add individual copper/nylon phase screens to a pliable-wire-armoured 660/1,100 V construction, preventing phase-to-phase arcing and ensuring immediate earth-fault tripping in gassy underground coal seams.

Trailing & towing

Suitable

Underground 1.1 kV roadway distribution, gate-end box jumpers, armoured face conveyors and stage loaders.

Fixed installation

Suitable

Gassy mine gallery hangers, drift haulage feeders, pump stations and flameproof switchgear links.

Immersion & wet locations

Suitable

Heavy-duty polychloroprene (RS4/EM2) outer jacket resists wet mine roadways, hydraulic oil and rock abrasion.

Motorised monospiral reel

Not suitable

Pliable wire armour is engineered for roadway and machine interconnections, not high-speed crane drums.

FAQ

Questions engineers ask first

Not covered here? Send your drawing — an engineer replies within 2 business hours.

What is the difference between MGM 112 Type 201 and Type 211?
Both Type 201 and Type 211 are 660/1,100 V pliable-wire-armoured LV mining cables with individual copper/nylon earth screens over each of the three phase cores (aligned with BS 6708 Type 201 and Type 211). Type 201 contains 3 screened phase cores laid around a central rubber cradle, whereas Type 211 is a 4-core construction that adds an unscreened fourth copper earth conductor in the cradle lay.
Why choose MGM 112 Type 201 / 211 over MGM 111 Type 21?
MGM 111 Type 21 has unscreened phase cores inside a collective pliable wire armour. In gassy coal mines where regulatory codes prohibit any possibility of a phase-to-phase fault before an earth fault occurs, MGM 112 Type 201 / 211 surrounds every individual 660/1,100 V phase core with an earthed copper/nylon braid screen.
What if I only need 2, 3 or 4 small auxiliary or lighting cores with individual screens?
For smaller 4–10 mm² auxiliary, lighting and control circuits at 660/1,100 V with individual core screens and pliable wire armour, select MGM 112 Type 62 (2-core), Type 63 (3-core) or Type 64 (4-core).
What if my system voltage is 1.9/3.3 kV instead of 660/1,100 V?
For 1.9/3.3 kV medium-voltage underground mining feeders with the same 4-core (3 screened phase + 1 earth) pliable-wire-armoured geometry, select MGM 112 Type 331 or MGM 111 Type 321.
