Application fit

Is MGM 112 Type 321 right for your machine?

MGM 112 Type 321 is the 1.9/3.3 kV medium-voltage counterpart to LV Type 21, providing 4 unscreened MV EPR cores (3 phase + 1 earth) protected by a collective galvanised steel pliable wire armour (PWA) for 3.3 kV mine roadways, haulage winches, dewatering pumps and quarry substations.

Trailing & towing

Suitable

3.3 kV semi-mobile mining feeders, quarry crusher skids, booster pumps and mobile transformers.

Fixed installation

Suitable

3.3 kV mine roadway hangers, shaft feeder branches, ventilation fans and haulage substations.

Immersion & wet locations

Suitable

Heavy-duty polychloroprene (RS4/EM2) outer jacket resists wet mine galleries, oil and abrasion.

Motorised monospiral reel

Not suitable

Pliable wire armour is built for roadway and machine interconnections, not fast crane reeling.

FAQ

Questions engineers ask first

Not covered here? Send your drawing — an engineer replies within 2 business hours.

How does MGM 112 Type 321 differ from MGM 112 Type 331?
Within the MGM 112 1.9/3.3 kV 4-core pliable-wire-armoured family, MGM 112 Type 321 is the unscreened-core 4-core construction (3 EPR phase cores + 1 earth core laid around a central rubber cradle inside the collective pliable wire armour), whereas MGM 112 Type 331 adds individual copper/nylon composite earth screens over each of the three phase cores.
How does MGM 112 Type 321 compare with MGM 111 Type 21?
Both share the same 4-core unscreened cradle-separated pliable-wire-armoured geometry, but MGM 111 Type 21 is rated for low-voltage 640/1,100 V (3.0 kV test) service, whereas MGM 112 Type 321 has thicker MV GP8 EPR core insulation rated for 1.9/3.3 kV (7.5 kV AC test).
What provides mechanical and electrical fault protection on MGM 112 Type 321?
The central rubber cradle and extruded inner bedding absorb radial rock impact, while the full-coverage stranded galvanised steel pliable wire armour (PWA) combined with the dedicated fourth tinned-copper earth core provides a low-impedance fault return path.
When should I specify individual phase screens (Type 331 or MGM 111 Type 320/321) instead?
In gassy coal seams where mine inspectorate rules mandate individual metallic screening on every 3.3 kV phase conductor to prevent phase-to-phase faults, specify MGM 112 Type 331 or MGM 111 Type 320 / 321.
