Application fit

Is Water-Cooled Two-Conductor Coaxial Cable right for your machine?

At medium and high frequencies (250 Hz to 50 kHz), two separate single-conductor cables would suffer enormous inductive voltage drop (ΔV = 2πf·L·I) and violently repel each other. Placing both the Go (+I) and Return (−I) water-cooled conductors coaxially or in interleaved sectors inside a single hose cuts inductance by 75–85 % and cancels external magnetic forces.

Furnace, kiln & high-temp zone

Suitable

Powers tilting coreless induction melting furnaces, vacuum induction melting (VIM) chambers and continuous strip/billet induction coils.

Immersion & wet locations

Suitable

Dual internal cooling water paths remove high-frequency skin-effect and proximity-effect losses directly from both conductors.

VFD inverter to AC motor screened feeder

Suitable

Ultra-low loop inductance (0.04–0.08 µH/m) preserves resonant tank power factor (Q) between thyristor/IGBT inverters and work coils.

FAQ

Questions engineers ask first

Not covered here? Send your drawing — an engineer replies within 2 business hours.

Why must medium- and high-frequency induction furnaces use a two-conductor coaxial cable instead of two single-core water-cooled cables?
Inductive reactance scales linearly with frequency (X_L = 2πf·L). At 1,000 Hz to 10,000 Hz, two separate single-core cables spaced 150 mm apart have an inductance of ~0.45 µH/m, causing hundreds of volts of reactive drop per metre, intense stray heating of nearby steel platforms and violent electromagnetic thrashing. Placing both Go and Return conductors coaxially or in interleaved sectors inside one hose cuts inductance to 0.04–0.08 µH/m and cancels external magnetic forces.
Why are the copper strands inside an MF/HF induction cable tinned and fine-drawn (Ø 0.15–0.25 mm)?
At 3 kHz, the skin depth in copper is only ~1.2 mm (and at 10 kHz only ~0.66 mm). Using fine individually tinned copper wires (Ø 0.15–0.25 mm) in transposed Litz-like sub-bundles prevents eddy currents from jumping between strands and prevents green copper-oxide scale in deionised cooling water.
When is a 6-sector interleaved design used instead of a concentric tube-in-tube coaxial design?
In a pure concentric coaxial cable, the inner conductor has a smaller diameter than the outer conductor. For high-current, lower-frequency melting furnaces (150 Hz to 3 kHz, 4–12 kA), arranging 6 alternating sectors (+ − + − + −) around a central cooling core gives identical AC resistance and identical cooling on both poles.
What factory routine tests and certificates are supplied with Water-Cooled Two-Conductor Coaxial Cable?
Every production drum of Water-Cooled Two-Conductor Coaxial Cable undergoes 100 % conductor DC resistance measurement at 20 °C, high-voltage AC/DC dielectric withstand testing, and dimensional verification per IEC 60519-3 / JB/T 6314 / VDE 0721, supplied with an EN 10204 3.1 inspection certificate.
