Free-hanging vertical run
Torsion-optimized rope-lay Class 5/6 tinned copper + sliding layers + anti-torsion reinforcement withstand ±100°/m twist over a.
Product
(N)TSCGEHXOEU Three-Core Torsion-Resistant Wind-Turbine MV/HV Cable (6/10 kV, 12/20 kV, 18/30 kV, 20/35 kV & 38/66 kV; 3×25 mm² to 3×185 mm²) engineered per DIN VDE 0250-813 and IEC 61400 for onshore and offshore wind-turbine.
Typical values for this cable type, based on DIN VDE 0250-813 / IEC 60502-2 / IEC 61400 — confirmed in the datasheet and quotation for your order.
Application fit
In modern 5–18 MW onshore and offshore wind turbines with nacelle-mounted step-up transformers, the 20 kV, 33/35 kV or 66 kV power cable hangs in a free catenary loop from the rotating nacelle into the upper tower—twisting up to ±3.5 full turns as the nacelle yaws into the wind.
Torsion-optimized rope-lay Class 5/6 tinned copper + sliding layers + anti-torsion reinforcement withstand ±100°/m twist over a.
Halogen-free ('HX') flame-retardant elastomer sheath passes IEC 60332-3-24 vertical tray fire, IEC 60754-2 zero-halogen and IEC.
Resists offshore marine salt fog, hydraulic pitch/yaw oil mist, condensation and -40 °C arctic nacelle startup temperatures.
Self-supporting vertical drop construction clamps directly to tower ladder saddles below the torsion loop all the way to the base.
Construction
(N)TSCGEHXOEU Three-Core Wind-Turbine MV/HV Cable showing three torsion-optimized Class 5/6 tinned copper phase conductors, triple-extruded inner semiconducting layer, 3GI3 EPR insulation and outer semiconducting screen ('G'), three split tinned copper earth conductors ('E') in the outer interstices, open-weave anti-torsion braid, and Black/Red halogen-free oil-resistant ('HXOEU') elastomer outer sheath.
| # | Layer | Material & reference |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 3 × Torsion-optimized Class 5 / Class 6 tinned copper conductors | Electrolytic tin-coated extra-flexible annealed copper wires with calibrated pitch length for bidirectional twisting (3 × 25 mm² to 3 × 185 mm²)Prevents strand bird-caging or core corkscrewing during ±3.5-turn nacelle yaw |
| 2 | Triple-extruded inner & outer semiconducting elastomer screens ('G') | Vulcanized inner conductor screen and torsion-stable outer semiconducting elastomer co-extruded with the EPR dielectricMaintains partial discharge ≤ 5 pC even after 10,000 × ±100°/m twist cycles |
| 3 | 3GI3 Ethylene Propylene Rubber (EPR) MV/HV dielectric | 90 °C ozone- and corona-resistant thermoset EPR compound Type 3GI3 (6/10 kV up to 20/35 kV & 38/66 kV)Remains supple at -40 °C without cracking under torsional shear |
| 4 | 3 × Split tinned copper interstitial earth cores ('E') | Three semiconducting-sheathed tinned copper earth conductors laid symmetrically in the outer interstices (e.g., 3×25/25E or 3×95/50E)'E' = Einzelader-Erdleiter: tolerates bidirectional torsion far better than rigid copper tape screens |
| 5 | HX-OEU Halogen-Free, Oil- & Flame-Resistant double sheath | Inner elastomer bedding + open-weave synthetic anti-torsion braid + Black or Red cross-linked halogen-free ('HX') oil-resistant ('OEU') outer sheathPasses IEC 60332-3-24 vertical tray fire, IEC 60754-2 and offshore salt-mist tests |
