Application fit

Is (N)TS-TGSH 3.6-6 kV right for your machine?

Designed for high-cycle 3.6/6 kV longwall coal shearers and Bretby drag chains where conventional metallic copper wire screens fail from flex-fatigue broken strands piercing the insulation.

Longwall shearer & Bretby handler

Suitable

Non-metallic SH elastomeric screen cannot suffer wire-strand fatigue breakage in tight Bretby loops.

Mine roadway & tunnel wall hangers

Suitable

TG textile reinforcement braid embedded in the 5GM5 sheath resists longitudinal ripping.

Trailing & towing

Suitable

Lighter and more flexible than wire-armoured MV cables for continuous face traversal.

Festoon & line chain

Suitable

Tight 8×D dynamic bend radius suits underground monorail festoon loops.

Vertical / spreader reel

With conditions

Suitable for horizontal handlers; for deep vertical shaft reeling use NTSCGEWÖU.

FAQ

Questions engineers ask first

Not covered here? Send your drawing — an engineer replies within 2 business hours.

What do TG and SH signify in the (N)TS-TGSH 3.6-6 kV designation?
TG stands for Textilgeflecht (a vulcanised high-tenacity textile reinforcement braid embedded between the inner and outer polychloroprene sheaths), while SH stands for Schirm aus halbleitendem Elastomer (a thick non-metallic semi-conductive elastomeric screen surrounding each phase and control core). Each production drum undergoes routine dielectric voltage testing, conductor DC resistance verification, and sheath dimensional inspection before dispatch with an EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificate.
Why replace metallic copper wire screens with an SH conductive elastomer screen on longwall shearers?
In high-cycle longwall Bretby cable handlers, fine copper screen wires eventually work-harden, snap, and poke back through the EPR insulation, causing internal phase-to-earth short circuits. The non-metallic SH elastomeric screen flexes indefinitely without broken metal wires while draining leakage current to the uninsulated interstitial copper earth cores.
How does (N)TS-TGSH 3.6-6 kV differ from low-voltage TGSH / TGSH2G?
(N)TS-TGSH 3.6-6 kV is engineered to DIN VDE 0250-813 with triple-extruded medium-voltage 3GI3 EPR dielectric walls and 11 kV AC routine test verification for 3.6/6 kV (Umax 7.2 kV) coal shearers, whereas standard TGSH is typically used on 0.6/1 kV to 1.8/3 kV faces.
How is fault current carried if the phase screen is conductive rubber?
Three bare or semi-conductive-sheathed Class 5 tinned copper earth conductors are laid in continuous longitudinal contact with the outer SH conductive elastomer screens of the three phase cores, providing a full-capacity metallic fault-current return path. Each production drum undergoes routine dielectric voltage testing, conductor DC resistance verification, and sheath dimensional inspection before dispatch with an EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificate.
