FAQ

Questions engineers ask first

Not covered here? Send your drawing — an engineer replies within 2 business hours.

How does a wire-wound ferrite-core suppression ignition cable differ from a carbon-impregnated resistive core?
Carbon-impregnated textile cores rely purely on high ohmic resistance (10–25 kΩ/m) and gradually burn away under continuous high-energy spark pulses. A wire-wound ferrite-core cable winds a metallic CuNi44 or stainless-steel alloy wire around a magnetic ferrite elastomer core — creating a reactive inductive choke that blocks MHz radio interference while maintaining a much lower, stable DC resistance (0.5–5.6 kΩ/m).
How do I choose between 5.6 kΩ/m, 2.2 kΩ/m, and 500 Ω/m linear resistance?
Choose 5.6 kΩ/m for standard ISO 3808 unshielded leads that do not use resistor boots, 2.2 kΩ/m for industrial CHP gas engines paired with 1 kΩ or 5 kΩ resistor spark plug boots, and 500 Ω/m (0.5 kΩ/m) for capacitive-discharge (CD) igniters and lean-burn biogas engines needing maximum spark energy.
How should crimp terminals be attached to a wire-wound ferrite suppression core?
Strip approximately 12–15 mm of the outer silicone jacket, glass braid, and inner dielectric to expose the wire-wound ferrite core, fold the exposed ferrite/wire core back 180° against the outer silicone jacket, and crimp a brass or stainless-steel ignition terminal over the jacket so the folded core presses firmly against the inside of the terminal barrel.
Can this cable replace metallic-core Silicone High-Voltage Ignition Cable on PLC-controlled industrial burners?
Yes. Switching from a plain copper-core ignition lead to an inductive wire-wound ferrite suppression cable eliminates high-frequency electromagnetic transients that cause false trips or resets on nearby PLCs, flame safeguards, and 4–20 mA transmitters.
