Application fit

Is Intervention Workover Control System Umbilical right for your machine?

Built for dynamic over-boarding from drilling rigs and well-intervention vessels, either clamped to a completion riser or deployed free-hanging.

Vertical / spreader reel

Suitable

High-cycle dynamic fatigue design withstands repeated deployment over rig moonpool and overboard sheaves.

Immersion & wet locations

Suitable

Collapse-resistant thermoplastic hoses and water-blocked electrical quads operate reliably to 3,000 m water depth.

Offshore platform & shipboard deck trays

Suitable

Tough polyether TPU outer sheath resists riser clamp compression, moonpool guides and completion fluids.

Free-hanging vertical run

Suitable

Armoured and polyaramid load-bearing variants support self-weight in deepwater Riserless Light Well Intervention (RLWI).

Energy chain / drag chain

Not suitable

Subsea well-control umbilical is designed for offshore winch and moonpool sheaves, not small automation carriers.

FAQ

Questions engineers ask first

Not covered here? Send your drawing — an engineer replies within 2 business hours.

Why is low volumetric expansion critical for 5,000 psi and 10,000 psi IWOCS hydraulic hoses?
During an offshore emergency quick-disconnect (EQD) or ESD sequence, subsea safety valves must close within strict API RP 17G response times. Multi-spiral polyaramid reinforcement minimises radial hose expansion under pressure so hydraulic accumulators discharge rapidly with minimal volume loss.
When should an Electro-Hydraulic Mux IWOCS umbilical be chosen over a Direct Hydraulic umbilical?
In water depths beyond 800–1,000 m, long hydraulic pilot lines suffer signal lag. Electro-hydraulic mux umbilicals transmit valve commands instantly over dual-redundant copper quads or optical fibres to a Subsea Electronics Module (SEM), reducing hose count from 24–32 down to 6–12 lines.
What is the difference between riser-clamped and Riserless Light Well Intervention (RLWI) umbilicals?
Riser-clamped IWOCS umbilicals are strapped every 10–15 m to the completion/workover riser string and use lightweight polyaramid braid. RLWI umbilicals are deployed free-hanging to the subsea lubricator stack and use heavy contra-helical GIPS steel wire armour with 500–600 kN breaking strength.
How are methanol and chemical injection lines protected against permeation?
Dedicated chemical injection and annulus bleed hoses incorporate a co-extruded fluoropolymer (PVDF) inner barrier liner that prevents methanol or corrosion inhibitor diffusion into the surrounding umbilical matrix.
