Two different hybrid-cable duties

Hybrid cables combine optical fibers with copper circuits, but broadcast-camera cables and air-blown microduct cables serve different installations. SMPTE camera systems require compatible cable, connectors, camera and control unit; microduct systems require verified blowing geometry and electrical power-distribution arrangements.

SiroccoHYBRID is a Prysmian product designation. Its published example has six 1 mm² copper cores and up to 36 fibers in a 7.7 mm cable for a 10 mm microduct. These are manufacturer-specific details, not TEBAOFLEX ratings or proof that another cable can achieve the same installation distance.

Correct constant-power voltage-drop calculation

For a simplified DC circuit, let r be resistance per metre of ONE conductor, L the one-way length, Vs the source voltage, P the receiving-end electrical power and η=Vload/Vs. The loop resistance is 2rL and L=Vs²η(1−η)/(2Pr). If resistance is already quoted for the complete loop, omit the extra factor 2.

Illustrative assumptions: Vs= 56 V, P= 100 W, r= 0.0133 Ω/m and η= 0.82 give L= 174.01 m. Load voltage is 45.92 V, current about 2.178 A and cable loss about 21.95 W. These assumed values do not support the original 420 m claim. Include connector resistance, operating temperature, converter efficiency and startup demand in a real calculation.

At η= 0.5 the ideal resistive-line constant-power model reaches its mathematical maximum transferable power. Real converters can shut down or become unstable earlier; that point is not an operating recommendation.

Optical and installation limits remain separate

Optical fibers have attenuation, connector loss and a finite equipment link budget; they are not lossless. Verify optical performance during the required thermal and mechanical duty. Copper and fiber thermal expansion must be accommodated by the complete cable construction.

A diameter ratio is not an area fill ratio. Illustratively, a 6.8 mm cable in a 10 mm bore has a 68% diameter ratio but 46.24% area ratio. Blowing distance depends on duct route, cleanliness, friction, pressure and equipment, not this ratio alone.

Power-system classification is not a voltage label

A 56 V source is not automatically a Class 2 circuit, and a 380 V feed is not automatically fault-managed Class 4 power. Use an approved complete system and the applicable installation rules. Do not increase source voltage or rewire camera conductors without equipment approval.

For procurement, provide load demand, route length, source and permitted receiving voltage, optical interface, installation method, environmental conditions and required electrical/optical acceptance records.
