Application fit

Is Type G right for your machine?

Type G provides dedicated protective grounding conductors inside the cable assembly without a ground-check monitoring pilot — making Flat 2C Type G the standard choice for DC shuttle cars and drills, and Round 3C/4C Type G ideal for AC portable mining and industrial feeders.

Trailing & towing

Construction

Layer by layer

In Flat 2C Type G, two EPR-insulated rope-lay tinned copper power conductors lie parallel on either side of the grounding conductor under a yarn-reinforced CPE jacket. In Round 3C/4C Type G, three or four insulated power cores are cabled with three or four symmetrical interstitial grounding conductors.

FAQ

Questions engineers ask first

Not covered here? Send your drawing — an engineer replies within 2 business hours.

How does Type G differ from Type W and Type G-GC portable mining cables?
Type W contains insulated power conductors only (no dedicated bare/green interstitial grounding conductors). Type G adds dedicated equipment grounding conductors inside the assembly (one central ground between the two power cores in Flat 2C, or 3 / 4 interstitial grounds in Round 3C / 4C) but omits a ground-check pilot. Type G-GC replaces one interstitial ground with a yellow-insulated ground-check (GC) pilot conductor for continuous ground-loop monitoring.
Why is Flat 2C Type G preferred on underground DC shuttle cars and drills?
DC shuttle cars, face drills and cutters operate on a two-wire DC power circuit plus equipment frame ground. The flat parallel profile layers neatly across horizontal level-wind reels, resists kinking during repeated pay-out and retrieval, and bends easily across its minor thickness dimension (6 × H).
Does 'Flat 2C' include the grounding conductor in the core count?
No. In ICEA S-75-381 nomenclature, '2C' (or '3C' / '4C') counts only the insulated circuit power conductors. Type G always includes dedicated grounding conductor(s) sized in proportion to the power conductors in addition to the stated power-core count.
Can Type G be ordered with jacket compounds other than black CPE?
Yes. While two-layer yarn-reinforced black chlorinated polyethylene (CPE) is standard for underground mining service, TEBAOFLEX also manufactures Type G with CSP, PCP (polychloroprene), NBR or PVC outer jackets to match specific chemical, low-temperature or high-visibility mine specifications.
