Application fit

Is TWISTCOAX right for your machine?

Specify TWISTCOAX for tokamak fusion magnetic pickup coils (Mirnov / Rogowski loops), particle-accelerator beam position monitors (BPMs), SQUID/fluxgate magnetometers, and ultra-low-noise differential ADC/DAC links.

VFD inverter to AC motor screened feeder

Suitable

Two twisted 50 Ω coaxial lines inside an overall shield combine GHz bandwidth with > 100 dB magnetic loop cancellation.

Suitable

Eliminates ground loops by isolating both inner coaxial shields from the outer chassis shield (differential twin-coax).

Fixed installation

Suitable

Built with 100 % non-magnetic OFHC silver-plated copper (μr < 1.0005) so tokamak, MRI, and SQUID fields are undistorted.

Motorised monospiral reel

Not suitable

FAQ

Questions engineers ask first

Not covered here? Send your drawing — an engineer replies within 2 business hours.

Why use TWISTCOAX (two twisted 50 Ω coaxial cables inside an overall shield) instead of a single coaxial cable or a standard twisted pair?
A single coaxial cable suffers from low-frequency ground-loop currents on its shield and cannot cancel magnetic flux penetrating the coax loop; a standard shielded twisted pair cancels low-frequency magnetic hum but suffers impedance discontinuity and crosstalk at GHz frequencies. By twisting two phase-matched 50 Ω coaxial sub-cables inside an overall shield, TWISTCOAX achieves both < 5 ps/m microwave bandwidth and > 100 dB low-frequency magnetic dB/dt rejection.
Why must copper-clad steel (CCS) and nickel-plated connectors be avoided in tokamak, MRI, and magnetometer cables?
Steel cores and nickel underplatings are ferromagnetic (μr >> 1), distorting local static magnetic fields and generating magneto-mechanical noise under vibration. TWISTCOAX uses strictly non-magnetic oxygen-free silver-plated copper (μr < 1.0005) throughout its conductors and shields.
How are the three shields (2 inner coaxial shields + 1 outer overall shield) grounded?
The two inner 50 Ω coaxial shields provide the continuous return paths for the differential 100 Ω signal (connected to the differential SMA/BNC/triax shells), while the outer overall braid acts as an electrostatic/Faraday guard connected to the instrument chassis or vacuum vessel wall.
What is the typical phase skew between the two 50 Ω channels in TWISTCOAX?
Because both coaxial sub-elements are extruded in the same production run and twisted with symmetrical back-twist tension, propagation delay skew between the two channels is held below 5 ps/m.
