Application fit

Is TPE Robust 210 / 215C right for your machine?

Select ROBUST 210 (unscreened) or 215C (screened) for dairy, meat-packing, brewery, and bottling lines exposed to daily high-pressure hot-water and ECOLAB chemical washdowns.

Immersion & wet locations

Suitable

Special hydrophobic TPE outer jacket (< 0.05 % water absorption) withstands daily +80 °C high-pressure washdown and ECOLAB CIP foams.

Offshore platform & shipboard deck trays

Suitable

Special non-polar TPE outer jacket resists dairy butterfat, blood/tallow, rapeseed/soybean bio-oils, and cutting emulsions.

VFD inverter to AC motor screened feeder

Suitable

Choose 215C (≥ 80 % Sn-Cu braid screen) for VFD conveyor drives, load cells, and flowmeters in washdown zones.

Furnace, kiln & high-temp zone

Not suitable

TPE thermoplastic elastomer is rated to +80 °C; for +180 °C baking ovens or autoclaves, use Besilen ESD or silicone control cable.

Use Besilen ESD for +180 °C silicone

FAQ

Questions engineers ask first

Not covered here? Send your drawing — an engineer replies within 2 business hours.

Why do standard PVC and nitrile rubber cables fail quickly in food and beverage washdown zones?
Food and dairy processing lines are cleaned daily with hot water (+70 to +80 °C) and aggressive alkaline/acidic foaming disinfectants (such as ECOLAB P3-topax), while also contacting animal fats, lactic acid, and vegetable oils. These extract the plasticizers from PVC cables within months — causing the jacket to harden and crack. The non-polar TPE jacket on ROBUST 210 / 215C contains no leachable plasticizers and resists both bio-oils and ECOLAB sanitizers.
What is the difference between ROBUST 210 and ROBUST 215C?
ROBUST 210 is the unscreened version for general power, solenoid, and contactor control. ROBUST 215C adds a tinned copper wire braid screen ('C', ≥ 80 % optical coverage) beneath the TPE outer jacket for EMC-sensitive analog sensors, load cells, flowmeters, and VFD-driven conveyors.
Why is the cable tested at 4,000 V AC despite its 300/500 V rating?
The low-capacitance modified PP/TPE core insulation provides exceptionally high dielectric strength, allowing a 4,000 V AC routine test voltage that gives extra safety margin in wet washdown environments.
Can ROBUST 210 / 215C also be used in blast freezers and outdoor plants?
Yes. Its cold-elastic TPE compound remains flexible down to -40 °C (flexing) and -50 °C (fixed) for spiral blast freezers and cold-storage warehouses, and the black jacket is UV-stabilised per ISO 4892-2 for outdoor use.
