Application fit

Is Shallow Refraction Seismic Spread Assembly right for your machine?

Engineered for 12-, 24- and 48-channel shallow refraction, reflection and MASW engineering seismographs.

Trailing & towing

Suitable

Copper-clad steel / tinned copper conductors and central 3.0 kN polyaramid member survive rough field dragging.

Immersion & wet locations

Suitable

Polyurethane-moulded waterproof takeouts (IP67/IP68 with Kooter / Wokcki connectors) operate in wet ditches and marshland.

Motorised monospiral reel

Suitable

Arctic-grade −40 °C to +80 °C cold-flexible polyether PUR jacket prevents kinking and memory coils on portable reels.

Energy chain / drag chain

Not suitable

Geophysical field seismic spread cable is designed for land surveys, not factory machine drag chains.

FAQ

Questions engineers ask first

Not covered here? Send your drawing — an engineer replies within 2 business hours.

Why are hybrid tinned-copper / copper-clad-steel (CCS) strands used in seismic spread cables?
Pure soft copper conductors eventually work-harden and snap after hundreds of cycles of being pulled across ground and wound onto small portable breast reels. Combining 12 tinned-copper strands with 7 high-tensile copper-clad-steel strands raises conductor flex life 5× while keeping loop resistance low.
What is the difference between Mueller clip, KCK split-spring, and Kooter takeouts?
Mueller clips are traditional alligator-style jaws that clip onto dual brass lugs. KCK (2-pin split-spring) takeouts mate rapidly with twin-post geophone connectors and shed mud easily. Kooter (and Wokcki) takeouts are polarized O-ring-sealed waterproof plugs used in wet ditches, marshes, and roll-along surveys.
Is the 61-pin connector wired for standard 61-pin bayonet and 27-pin NK-27 seismograph pinouts?
Our standard 24-channel 61-pin connector follows the industry-standard 61-pin MIL-DTL-26482 (PT06A-24-61S/P) pin assignment, and our 12-channel cables follow the standard 27-pin NK-27-21C pinout. Custom multi-channel seismograph pinouts are wired on request.
Can you build centre-connector or roll-along seismic spread cables?
Yes. We build single-ended spreads (connector at one end), double-ended roll-along spreads (Male at one end, Female at the other), and centre-tap spreads where the 61-pin seismograph takeout sits between Channel 12 and Channel 13.
