Application fit

Is KGEZhTSh right for your machine?

Engineered for steep-seam longwall coal shearers, inclined mine drifts, shaft sinking winches, and heavy excavator trailing spans where extreme axial pulling forces would snap copper conductors.

Mine roadway & tunnel wall hangers

Suitable

Galvanized steel wire rope core (Ж) carries full deadweight and haulage pull on steep coal seams.

Trailing & towing

Suitable

Prevents copper conductor elongation during high-drawbar towing behind excavators and roadheaders.

Vertical / spreader reel

Suitable

Self-supporting steel wire rope core allows vertical and inclined shaft suspension.

Longwall shearer & Bretby handler

Suitable

Fine aircraft-grade galvanized steel rope bends smoothly through heavy Bretby handlers.

Festoon & line chain

With conditions

Heavier than unarmoured cables; for light monorail festoons use NTSKCGECWÖU.

FAQ

Questions engineers ask first

Not covered here? Send your drawing — an engineer replies within 2 business hours.

What does 'Zh' (Ж) represent in KGEZhTSh (КГЭЖТШ)?
'Ж' designates a high-tensile galvanized steel wire rope (железный / стальной грузонесущий трос) integrated into the central cradle or interstices of the cable. It absorbs extreme axial pulling and suspension forces so the Class 5 copper phase conductors remain strain-free. Each production drum undergoes routine dielectric voltage testing, conductor DC resistance verification, and sheath dimensional inspection before dispatch with an EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificate.
Where is KGEZhTSh used instead of KGETSh or KGESh?
KGEZhTSh is specified for steep and inclined coal seams (where gravity pulls the shearer cable down-dip), long-distance heavy excavator towing, and inclined gallery or shaft winch feeders where tensile loads exceed the 15–20 N/mm² limit of copper conductors. Each production drum undergoes routine dielectric voltage testing, conductor DC resistance verification, and sheath dimensional inspection before dispatch with an EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificate.
Does the steel wire rope (Ж) also function as the protective earth conductor?
The galvanized steel wire rope is bonded to the protective earth terminal and sits in conductive contact with the core screens, while copper earth strands or composite copper/steel lays ensure low fault-loop impedance per GOST 24334. Each production drum undergoes routine dielectric voltage testing, conductor DC resistance verification, and sheath dimensional inspection before dispatch with an EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificate.
How is KGEZhTSh terminated at the machine gland?
At the cable entry gland of the shearer or excavator, the central galvanized steel wire rope is anchored to a mechanical strain-relief clevis or clamp inside the stuffing box, transferring all towing pull directly to the machine chassis. Each production drum undergoes routine dielectric voltage testing, conductor DC resistance verification, and sheath dimensional inspection before dispatch with an EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificate.
