FAQ

Questions engineers ask first

Not covered here? Send your drawing — an engineer replies within 2 business hours.

Why is insulation resistance above 2,000 MΩ·km critical for ERT and Induced Polarization (IP) cables?
During an ERT/IP survey, two conductors carry up to 1,000 V DC / 2.5 A while adjacent conductors in the same bundle measure millivolt potential differences and microvolt IP decay curves. Any moisture ingress at a takeout or low-grade PVC insulation creates leakage paths that corrupt apparent resistivity and chargeability data.
How are the stainless-steel takeout rings sealed against water ingress?
Each 316L stainless-steel cylindrical takeout ring is chemically primed and hot-melt polyurethane overmoulded directly to the stripped TPU cable sheath in a two-stage high-pressure injection mould, creating a monolithic IP68 seal tested in a 3,000 V DC water bath.
Can you wire the 32-pin or 61-pin connectors to match our existing 21-, 24-, 32-, 48- or 64-channel resistivity receiver?
Yes. Simply specify your instrument model (e.g. 21-takeout 32-pin bayonet, 24-takeout roll-along, or 48/64-takeout dual-mode) and roll-along direction when ordering, and we wire the bayonet connector pinout and overlap channels to match.
What prevents the copper conductors from breaking when field crews pull the spread cable across rough terrain?
A high-modulus polyaramid core (2.5 kN to 4.5 kN breaking strength) runs continuously through the centre of the cable and is mechanically anchored inside both end connector backshells, absorbing all pulling tension.
