FAQ

Questions engineers ask first

Not covered here? Send your drawing — an engineer replies within 2 business hours.

What does 'Non-Metallic' in BRUsens DTS BSSA N refer to if it contains a stainless-steel tube?
In the BRUsens naming convention, 'BSSA N' designates a stainless-steel loose tube (BSSA) with a Non-metallic peripheral tensile reinforcement (aramid yarns instead of outer steel wire armour 'M'). This keeps the cable light (22 kg/km), compact (Ø 3.8 mm), and fast-responding while preserving the hermetic 316L tube around the fibres.
Can BSSA N be blown into microducts alongside buried HV export power cables?
Yes. The Ø 3.8 mm low-friction PA12 or HDPE outer sheath is specifically sized for air-blowing into 8/5 mm or 10/6 mm SDR microducts cast into HV power cable banks for Real-Time Thermal Rating (RTTR).
Why specify a dry (gel-free) FIMT for cryogenic LNG tank leak detection?
At -162 °C to -196 °C LNG temperatures, standard thixotropic tube gels solidify and induce severe micro-bending loss on the optical fibres. Our dry-tube BSSA N-CRYO variant keeps attenuation stable down to -196 °C.
When should we choose BSTE/BSSA M instead of BSSA N?
Choose BSTE/BSSA M (with galvanized or stainless steel wire armour) whenever the cable is directly buried in rocky trenches, cast into concrete, or exposed to high pulling tensions (> 1,000 N).
