Case study
The Order: A Flexible 12/20(24) kV Single-Core Cable
A cable-trading customer needed a flexible screened medium-voltage cable for a power connection inside a Singapore data centre. The supplied cable was (N)TMCGCW11Y, 1×120/16 mm², rated 12/20(24) kV, with a black polyurethane outer sheath.
The construction was specified against DIN VDE 0250-813 and the order documentation: a Class 5 tinned-copper conductor, conductor screen, EPR insulation, insulation screen, semi-conductive tape, concentric tinned-copper screen, and a TPU outer sheath. The project evidence supports this specific supplied configuration; it should not be read as a certificate for every cable in the product family.
- Flexible Class 5 tinned-copper conductor.
- EPR insulation with conductor and insulation screening layers.
- Concentric tinned-copper braided screen.
- Black polyether-based TPU outer sheath.

Selecting the Copper Screen Construction
The technical discussion focused on two permitted concentric protective-conductor constructions: served wires laid in one direction and a woven braid. Both approaches can be appropriate, depending on the cable design and installation duty.
For this order, TEBAOFLEX recommended and supplied a tinned-copper braid. The recommendation was based on the routing and bending requirements described during the project consultation. It was an application-specific engineering choice, not a general claim that braid is always preferable to a served construction.

Production and Factory Checks
The finished cable carried its type, conductor size, and standard reference in the printed marking. Factory checks included outside-diameter measurements at multiple points, with the recorded values remaining within a narrow band of approximately 34.3–35.0 mm.
Photographs of the marked cable, caliper check, finished cross-section, and screen samples provide first-party production evidence for the order. They document what was produced and checked without making claims about post-installation performance that the available project material does not establish.

Factory quality control included outside-diameter checks on the finished cable.

Prepared for Shipment to Singapore
After production and quality checks, the cable was wound onto wooden drums, packed, and loaded into a shipping container for export to Singapore. The available evidence confirms completion of production, QC, packing, and dispatch; it does not establish commissioning or in-service performance at the data centre.

The Takeaway
This project shows how a flexible medium-voltage cable order can move from an application requirement through construction selection, production evidence, dimensional checks, and export packing.
