Fixed installation
Heavy-duty EM2 PCP outer sheath and flexible tinned copper cores lay cleanly in trackside concrete troughs and location cases.
Product
NR Type B1 (multicore) and Type B2 (single/twin) UK Network Rail trackside signalling cable (NR/PS/SIG/00005, 650/1100 V AC, -25 to +85 °C) with tinned copper cores (1.5–35 mm²), BS 7655 GP4 EPR insulation, and BS 7655 EM2 heavy-duty PCP sheath.
Typical values for this cable type, based on Network Rail NR/PS/SIG/00005 (formerly RT/E/PS/00005 & BR 895) Type B1 / B2 — confirmed in the datasheet and quotation for your order.
Application fit
Select NR Type B1 (circular multicore) and NR Type B2 (single/twin tail) for surface concrete trough routes, trackside location cases, colour-light signals, and point-machine tail connections across UK Network Rail infrastructure.
Heavy-duty EM2 PCP outer sheath and flexible tinned copper cores lay cleanly in trackside concrete troughs and location cases.
Thermoset GP4 EPR insulation and EM2 heavy-duty PCP sheath resist flooded trackside troughs, ballast dust, diesel/grease, and solar UV.
Type B1/B2 is unscreened and unarmoured; where 25 kV AC OLE screening and SWA protection are needed, specify NR Type E1 / E2.
Use NR Type E1 / E2 for screened SWA routesDesigned for fixed trackside troughing and equipment tail terminations, not continuous drag chains.
Use JZ-50440 CP for drag-chain controlConstruction
NR/PS/SIG/00005 Type B1 / B2 construction: tinned annealed copper conductors (1.5 mm² = 30/0.25 mm Class 5; 2.5–35 mm² = Class 2/5), BS 7655 GP4 EPR core insulation (white numbered cores), PET binder tape, and BS 7655 EM2 black PCP sheath.
| # | Layer | Material & reference |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Tinned copper conductors | Tinned annealed copper per BS EN 60228 (1.5 mm² uses 30/0.25 mm flexible stranding; 2.5–35 mm² stranded)Tin coating prevents sulphide/moisture corrosion and suits standard railway crimp lugs |
| 2 | Type GP4 EPR core insulation | 85 °C ethylene-propylene rubber compound Type GP4 to BS 7655-1.2 (white with black printed numbers)High insulation resistance and 650/1100 V dielectric strength |
| 3 | Core binder tape | Non-hygroscopic synthetic binder tape over the laid-up cores (Type B1)Maintains circular core geometry and aids clean stripping at location cases |
| 4 | Type EM2 heavy-duty PCP sheath | Black polychloroprene elastomer compound Type EM2 to BS 7655-2.1Oil-resistant, flame-retardant (BS EN 60332-1-2), and weather-proof for trackside troughs |
Circular unarmoured multicore trackside signalling cable for inter-location trough runs
Single-core and flat/circular twin unarmoured tail cable for track circuits, point machines, and 650 V feeders
