What is the exact construction difference between H01N2-D and H01N2-E?
Both cables share the same 100/100 V rating and Type EM5 polychloroprene rubber covering per EN 50525-2-81. The difference lies in the EN 60228 conductor stranding: H01N2-D uses Class D normal-flexibility stranding with a maximum elementary wire diameter of 0.20 mm, whereas H01N2-E uses Class E extra-flexible stranding with a maximum wire diameter of 0.15 mm.
How does welding duty cycle (35 %, 60 %, 85 %, 100 %) affect H01N2-D current rating?
Arc welding is intermittent over a standardized 5-minute cycle. Because thermal heating scales with the duty factor, a 50 mm² H01N2-D cable rated at 285 A continuous (100 % duty) can safely carry ~320 A at 60 % duty cycle and ~395 A at 35 % duty cycle.
Why does H01N2-D use a single-layer EM5 covering instead of separate insulation and sheath?
Under EN 50525-2-81, the thick vulcanised Type EM5 polychloroprene elastomer acts as a combined insulating and heavy-duty mechanical covering over a polyester separator tape, maximizing flexibility while resisting weld spatter, oil and abrasion.
Can H01N2-D be used for 12 V / 24 V / 48 V battery bank or electroplating busbar jumpers?
Yes. Provided the circuit voltage does not exceed 100 V AC / 150 V DC and the cable is protected against short-circuit mechanical forces, H01N2-D is widely used for flexible battery and rectifier jumpers.
