FAQ

Questions engineers ask first

Not covered here? Send your drawing — an engineer replies within 2 business hours.

Why does Industrial Ethernet Cat6A use S/FTP (PiMF) shielding instead of a single foil-and-braid?
At 500 MHz (10GBASE-T), near-end crosstalk (NEXT) between the four internal pairs and alien crosstalk (ANEXT) from nearby variable-frequency motor drives would corrupt unshielded pairs. Wrapping every individual pair in its own aluminium/PET foil (PiMF) plus an overall ≥85 % tinned copper braid achieves ≥ 80 dB EMC isolation.
Can Industrial Ethernet Cat6A be used with M12 X-coded connectors?
Yes. The 4×2 S/FTP PiMF core geometry and 6.4 mm to 8.5 mm outer diameters are engineered to fit industrial RJ45 Cat6A plugs and IEC 61076-2-109 M12 8-pole X-coded 10 Gbps connectors. Each production reel undergoes 100 % characteristic impedance verification, mutual capacitance and DC loop resistance testing, and dielectric spark/withstand inspection before dispatch with an EN 10204 3.1 certificate.
How does conductor gauge affect 10GBASE-T link length and PoE++ (90 W)?
Solid AWG 22/1 and AWG 23/1 cables support the full 100 m 10GBASE-T channel and minimize I²R heating under 90 W IEEE 802.3bt PoE++ loads. Flexible AWG 24/7/19 supports up to 75–85 m, while compact AWG 26/7 supports up to 60 m. Each production reel undergoes 100 % characteristic impedance verification, mutual capacitance and DC loop resistance testing, and dielectric spark/withstand inspection before dispatch with an EN 10204 3.1 certificate.
Is the AWG 22/1 Cat6A version compliant with 4-pair PROFINET guidelines?
Yes. Our 4×2×AWG22/1 and 4×2×AWG24/7 S/FTP versions in RAL 6018 green meet PNO 4-pair Gigabit PROFINET Type A, Type B, and Type C electrical and mechanical specifications. Each production reel undergoes 100 % characteristic impedance verification, mutual capacitance and DC loop resistance testing, and dielectric spark/withstand inspection before dispatch with an EN 10204 3.1 certificate.
