Fixed installation
Direct cyanoacrylate/epoxy surface bonding or shallow slot-grouting on steel, concrete and CFRP structures.
Product
BRUsens DSS V1 Distributed Strain Sensing Fibre Optic Cable with a monolithic polyamide-extruded sensing core that bonds directly to composite laminates, steel girders, concrete surfaces and wind turbine blades for high-resolution.
Typical values for this cable type, based on IEC 61757-1-1 / IEC 60794-1-21 / ITU-T G.657.A1 — confirmed in the datasheet and quotation for your order.
Application fit
Engineered for direct epoxy bonding onto steel bridges, concrete beams, composite wind blades and aerospace structures where heavy armoured cables would add excessive stiffness.
Direct cyanoacrylate/epoxy surface bonding or shallow slot-grouting on steel, concrete and CFRP structures.
Surface-mounted hoop strain profiling across precast concrete tunnel rings and masonry arches.
Hydrolysis-resistant Polyamide 12 outer jacket withstands damp concrete and marine humidity.
Static structural strain sensor designed to be bonded in place; not for cable drag chains.

| # | Layer | Material & reference |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | High-strength strain sensing fibre | ITU-T G.657.A1 / G.657.A2 single-mode silica fibre (200 kpsi proof-tested) with high-adhesion primary coatingSupports up to ±15,000 µε (1.5 %) elongation without break |
| 2 | Intermediate strain-transfer buffer | Cross-linked thermoplastic elastomer tightly co-extruded onto the primary fibre coatingShear-locks the optical fibre with < 0.5 % strain lag |
| 3 | Dielectric aramid micro-reinforcement | Integrated longitudinal aramid micro-filaments embedded in the polymer matrixPrevents handling snap while keeping axial stiffness low (EA ≈ 18 kN) |
