FAQ

Questions engineers ask first

Not covered here? Send your drawing — an engineer replies within 2 business hours.

Why is XLPE ('XS') + round wire armour ('Fo') ideal for deep vertical mine shafts?
Historically, paper-insulated lead-sheathed cables drained impregnating oil down vertical shafts, while thermoplastic PVC softened under high load. YHKGXSFoyn combines dry cross-linked XLPE ('XS', +90 °C non-melting) with high-tensile galvanized round steel wire armour ('Fo') that supports vertical suspension at 90° without dielectric migration or core slippage.
What is the role of the counter-helix steel binder tape over the 'Fo' round wires?
When a wire-armoured cable is bent or subjected to a short-circuit electrodynamic jolt in a shaft, the round armour wires tend to birdcage outward. The counter-wound steel tape locks the 'Fo' wires tightly against the bedding.
What is the maximum recommended spacing between shaft cleats for YHKGXSFoyn?
In vertical mine shafts (90°), wooden or elastomeric-lined shaft clamps are typically spaced every 4.5 m to 6.0 m along the shaft buntons so the round wire armour transfers the cable weight evenly.
What factory routine tests and certificates are supplied with YHKGXSFoyn?
Every production drum of YHKGXSFoyn undergoes 100 % conductor DC resistance measurement at 20 °C, high-voltage AC/DC dielectric withstand testing, and dimensional verification per PN-G-90006 / PN-93/E-90401 / IEC 60502-2, supplied with an EN 10204 3.1 inspection certificate.
