FAQ

Questions engineers ask first

Not covered here? Send your drawing — an engineer replies within 2 business hours.

Why is low capacitance (≤ 40–50 pF/m) so important in medical ultrasound probe cables?
Piezoelectric ultrasound transducer elements have a tiny intrinsic capacitance (often 10–30 pF); a cable with high capacitance forms a capacitive voltage divider that attenuates weak return echoes, so our foamed-PFA 75 Ω micro-coax lowers capacitance to 40–48 pF/m to boost signal-to-noise ratio and penetration depth.
Why do medical micro-coaxial cables use a spiral (served) shield instead of a woven braid?
On a 0.25–0.40 mm coaxial core, a helically served 0.025 mm silver-plated copper-alloy spiral shield eliminates braid crossover bumps, reduces outer diameter by 15 %, increases flexibility for a draper-like hand feel, and can be rapidly stripped and combed for mass hot-bar PCB soldering.
How do 40–46 AWG conductors survive over 1,000,000 flexing cycles without breaking?
Instead of soft annealed copper, we use a 7-strand precipitation-hardened silver-plated copper-tin or copper-silver alloy with > 650 MPa tensile strength, stranded with ultra-short lay lengths. Each production reel undergoes sweep-frequency impedance and return-loss verification, dielectric spark testing, and dimensional inspection before dispatch with an EN 10204 3.1 test certificate.
Can you supply both single micro-coaxial bobbins and complete 48–256 channel ultrasound trunks?
Yes, we supply both colour-coded single micro-coaxial spools for in-house bundling and finished 16 to 256-channel medical trunks complete with ePTFE sub-binders, overall tinned/silver copper braid, and an ISO 10993-certified limp PVC, TPU, or silicone outer jacket. Each production reel undergoes sweep-frequency impedance and return-loss verification, dielectric spark testing, and dimensional inspection before dispatch with an EN 10204 3.1 test certificate.
